If all you need is silence removal and you are happy paying a subscription for it, both will do the job and you should pick on price and on which interface you prefer. If you want to try the thing properly before paying anything, or you want captions, titles and presets from the same panel, that is where FastEdit is different.

Where AutoCut is the better pick
Two cases, and they are real ones.
- You edit in DaVinci Resolve as well. AutoCut runs in both, FastEdit is a Premiere Pro panel only. If half your work is in Resolve, one tool that covers both is worth more than any feature list.
- You only ever want silence removal and the lowest monthly price. Their entry tier is cheaper than ours. If you will never touch captions, titles or presets, and you know you are going to pay monthly anyway, that difference is real money.
Where FastEdit is different
You can use it for nothing, permanently
This is the practical difference for most people reading this page. The free plan is not a countdown: silence removal, gap closing, social reframing, safe zones, anchor points and zoom stay available with no card and no expiry. You pay when you want the AI to plan and build the timeline for you, not to find out whether the cutting is any good.
The cut cannot land inside a word
Most silence cutters pick a volume threshold and remove everything under it, which clips the decay at the end of words. FastEdit's Auto Cut grows outwards from regions that are certainly speech instead of hunting for quiet, so a cut can only land between two phrases. Measured on real speech: zero cuts inside a word, against six for a fixed threshold method on the same clip. The longer explanation is here.

Common questions
Is FastEdit really free, or is it a trial?
It is a plan, not a trial. Silence removal, gap closing, reframing, safe zones, anchors and zoom have no time limit and need no card. You do need a free account to download the panel, which is also what carries a licence key later if you upgrade.
Does FastEdit work in DaVinci Resolve?
No. It is an Adobe Premiere Pro panel, for Premiere Pro 2020 (14.0) and newer on Windows and macOS. If you need Resolve as well, AutoCut covers both and that is a fair reason to choose it.
Can I use both at once?
Yes. They are separate panels and neither interferes with the other, so trying FastEdit does not mean removing anything you already rely on.
What happens to my edits if I cancel?
Nothing. Everything the panel produces is ordinary Premiere keyframes, clips and graphics, so projects you already edited are untouched. The panel locks at the end of the period you paid for and not a day before.
Are these prices going to stay accurate?
Ours will, because this page is generated from the same price list as our pricing page. AutoCut's are as published on their site in August 2026, and we would rather you confirmed them at the source than took our word for a competitor's number.
